“You are the sky. Everything else is just the weather.”
– Pema Chodron
Last night during my yin yoga practice while in a deep holding position, my amazing teacher reads this allowed to us. ” You are the Sky and Everything else is the weather,” What? “How does this make so much sense. What a perfect way to view your life. I am the sky and everything that is happening around me and in my life is the weather!” Instantly I knew I needed to write about this. I needed to share it with all of you. That’s what I do. ❤
So if I am the sky, that means all of us are the sky. That means you are the sky. We all experience all sorts of weather conditions throughout our days. Some sunny, some windy, some tornadoie (is that even a word?? Google please lol.)
Some days the sun will be shining all around you. Everything will seem to be lighting the way for the perfect day that’s ahead. Smiles will be flashing. Hearts will be radiating love to yourself and to the world. Then without warning, you take a step outside and realize that a dark shadow is glooming over your head. The sun is gone, and the sky is dark in color. The world may even feel like it’s starting to enclose around you. Your heart sinks in a little more and a shield goes up around it. With your head down, you make your way to find cover from this gloomy storm. You find a way to make it through and when you step outside again, the dark gloom is gone, the sun is out and the wind is blowing through you. It’s blowing away all the sadness, uncertainty, fear, and preparing you for a better day. The smiles start flashing again, your heart is relaxed, and the world feels at peace.
We all have the ability to always have cloudless days. No matter what is taking place is your day, or your week, you can create a cloudless sky in your mind. Another way to use this quote to your advantage is to remember that your mind is the sky and in those moments of stormy weather, we always have the cloudless sky within us – we just need to clear the clouds to allow it to shine. We must never give up because the sun will always come back out. The fresh breeze will always come back to blow all the smoke away. To clear the path for you.
Basically what I am trying to say is I freaking love this quote :). It’s may be one of my favorite life quotes now. I can use it to help remind myself that I can clear away any stresses or fearful thoughts that are clouding my mind at any given moment. I hold that power. It will also help to remind me that, no matter what is going on in my life that may be causing me stress, or sadness, there will always be better days to come. It will remind me and hopefully remind you, to never give up on yourself or your life.
Love you all,
