Right Now Is All You Got

Right now, this very moment no matter what you are doing, this is what you got. Anything after this moment isn’t promised. We spend so much time waiting for the perfect time to drop, or waiting for the next best thing to come into our lives. We spend all this time waiting and then one day we realize we lost out on so much.

As adults we get so caught up in the daily grind of “Adulting” that we often forget to enjoy our lives or truly do what we long to do. We forget to stop what we are doing and give that person who just dropped in to say hi, a little time. We put off that vacation because “we don’t have time.” We put off trying that new hobby because we fear of failing. We put off asking that special person to be a part of our lives forever because we are waiting for the perfect time. We put off making that phone call to a loved one because our day is just too busy.

What we are really doing is putting off our Life. We are letting life slip through our hands as if it was never there. We think we have control of our lives and how much time we have for choosing how long we have to finish something or to take that next step. Reality is, we don’t. None of us know when it will be our last day. That hits home very deeply when you read that out loud. I literally got chills as I typed it.

If you are reading this post, you are ALIVE! That means all you have is right now. What are you going to do with it? Are you going to waste it, or are you going to make that phone call, hug that friend, plan that vacation, apply for that job you have always wanted, take that hot bath that you say you never have time for, get your work done, finish building that truck, or take that next big step that you have been so afraid of.

Whatever you choose to do, just do it. No more waiting, and no more excuses.

Right now is all you got!

This post was inspired by Boundless Blessings post “Living in the Moment” make sure you take a minute to read this post as well.

  1. I love to see that someone else understands this.
I mean it’s my basic aim to make people see that the tomorrow they’re waiting for is no different than today, because today was once a tomorrow.
You mentioned “chills and hit home deeply” when you said none of us knows when will be our last. Well, not exactly everyone hit home deeply reading that. We all must have experienced the death of younger ones and even the healthy, maybe from our neighborhood, hospitals, road accidents, news, televisions, then I don’t suppose we should still be playing ignorance of the fact that we don’t know when will be our last.

I also love it that you mentioned vacation in the list of things people put off that should rather be done.
A lot of people have gone for that favorite job, pursued that dream, dedicated to family, done everything else but rest. Well, if you’re this person, I give you a wow, but then again, I pat your shoulder and say to you, “Get some rest, live your best life, and not let your best life live you. Besides, to give your best, you’d need your full senses intact. Therefore, you need rest to have your full functional senses in place. Call it refueling. And return to work.”

    1. I love “make people see that the tomorrow they’re waiting for is no different than today, because today was once a tomorrow.” those words couldn’t be more true. Not letting the best life live us is another good point. It’s nice being able to relate so much with someone else who has a lot of the same views and thoughts. I’m sure there is a lot we can still learn from each other though. We all have something to teach another. Every single one of us. ❀ Thank you

  2. I love this post. We’re all so busy these days and forget just to relax and be. I do try to practice my mindfulness though, even on public transport. I also eat mindfully so that I enjoy my food more and stop when my body tells me I’ve had enough πŸ™‚ I really try hard to just stay in the moment and appreciate all the little things πŸ™‚

    1. Me too me too. It’s a daily goal that’s for. It’s a hard thing to learn if you haven’t done it much throughout your life but I can be learned. I have much better days when I say mindful in my daily activities instead of letting my mind get away from me. Thanks for the support πŸ’•

    1. At least trying to live in the present on a daily. I know I fail at this in certain times, but I have been working on getting back to the present more quickly, before my mind spirals years away from me ☺️. Hope you have the best day ❀️
